The IOT (Internet of Things) is everywhere. Devices such as your smart phone, computer car, Amazon's Alexa, Google's Google Home, smart appliances such as refrigerators, washers, and dryers, and many other home devices such as lights, heating, security, TVs, printers and more are a part of the IOT and are subject to being hacked.

There are however, many things you can do to protect yourself.

  • Always use passwords and encryption where available

    • Devices without any type of encryption are more likely to be hacked than devices that are encrypted.

  • Use passwords that are not easy to guess and vary from each other

    • Passwords that are easy to guess are very common and many people use the same password for everything making it easier for hackers to gain access to more information.
